Hezekiah’s Prayer of Surrender

19
Chapter 19
14 Hezekiah took the letter from the messengers' hands, read it, went up to the house of the LORD, and spread it out before the LORD. 15 Hezekiah prayed before the LORD and said, "LORD God of Israel, who sits on the cherubim—you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth; you made the heavens and the earth." 16 Incline your ear, LORD, and hear; open your eyes, LORD, and see; and hear the words of Sennacherib that they sent to taunt the living gods. 17 Indeed, LORD, the kings of Assyria have cut off the nations and their lands. 18 And they gave their gods into the fire, for they are not gods but rather the work of the hands of man—wood and stone—and they destroyed them. 19 And now, LORD our God, save us please from his hand, and let all the kingdoms of the earth know that you, LORD, are God alone.
